Disappointed about his team performance in the first half, Chelsea’s manager José Mourinho, however, felt that the Blues would have prevailed in Maribor (1-1). But he did not want to overwhelm Eden Hazard ". When a player plays as well as he did, he can miss a penalty"

José Mourinho : 'In the first half we weren’t good,' he said. 'We played very slow with no intensity or creativity. It was easy for Maribor to control the game and reach what they wanted, which was a 0-0.

'In the second half we played very well but then they scored, which made the game more difficult for us. After that I think we were magnificent; creative, fast, dynamic, lots of chances to score. I think we deserved to win but it’s fair to praise Maribor’s efforts. They gave everything to try to get the points.
Jose Mourinho's frustration grows as his Chelsea side fail to break down
their Slovenian opponents in the first half

'We scored two goals, two very good goals, but the second the referee disallowed. It was a clear goal, so normally we should have won. We have to accept it and praise a fantastic stadium with lots of enthusiasm for a fantastic night.'

The 600-odd Chelsea fans who travelled to Slovenia poked fun at manager Mourinho’s complaints that Stamford Bridge is too quiet with chants of 'Jose, Jose, give us a song'.

Mourinho will be frustrated with his side's efforts in Slovenia after being held to a 1-1 draw at Maribor

If Agim Ibrahimi had opened the scoring for Slovenia (50th), Nemanja Matic equalized for the Blues (73). Note that Eden Hazard has not converted a penalty (86).

Jose Mourinho's men retain the lead in Group G with three points ahead of Schalke 04, though beaten on the lawn of Sporting (4-2).
